Ik uitte gisterenavond mijn twijfels over de vulkaanfoto met bliksem, in die zin dat ik dacht dat hij bijgewerkt was omdat ik in het midden een onrealistisch grijze bliksem zag in het beeld. het blijkt een ghost van de lens te zijn.

That's an optical effect from a digital camera and the fact that it is there makes the image even more realistic. It is a reflection of light from the bright bolt off the reflective sensor of the camera, onto the back element of the lens, and then back (point-symmetrically) on another part of the sensor. The bolt is probably green due to the coating on the back element of the lens. You can see the point-symmetry around the center of the image.

Fake was my first thought too, but amazingly this *is* legit! There are some news clips around the net of this scene (can't find them quickly now, I'll do a search later). The ash plume looked like a supercell updraft with constant 'anvil zits' flashing within the upper part, then the occasional CG. Something I'd like to see in person someday....
