The IPCC requested that the RCPs should be “compatible with the full range of stabilization, mitigation and baseline emission scenarios available in the current scientific literature,” and that they should include information on a range of factors beyond concentrations and emissions of long-lived GHGs, including emissions of other radiatively active gases and aerosols (and their precursors), land use, and socioeconomic conditions (see Appendix 1 of the full report for a detailed description of the data requirements). This information should be sufficient to meet user needs, in particular the data needs for climate modeling.
