Heavy rain and gales are expected

THE MET office has placed a severe weather warning for London and the South East with heavy rain and gales expected in the area overnight.
On Friday, a total of
40 mm in many southern and western parts of England and Wales is expected, with
75 mm of rain possible over higher ground.
The heavy rain will be accompanied by gale force winds, with gusts to 60 mph in exposed areas.
The rain is expected to start tonight and could carry on until Saturday.
Met Office Chief Forecaster, Bob Wilderspin, says: "We are expecting severe weather over the next few days. We are monitoring how the situation develops, issuing forecasts and warnings to keep you updated. You are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecast on TV, radio or online."
