:Thunderstorms soak Georgia, cause blackouts
The Associated Press - ATLANTA
Thunderstorms that moved through Georgia on Monday night and Tuesday morning knocked out power and caused flooding in some low-lying areas.
Georgia Power officials said up to 3,000 customers, most of them in northwest Atlanta, Cobb and Douglas counties, lost power during the storm. Electricity had been restored to most customers by Tuesday morning.
In Columbus, police received a number of calls reporting car accidents Monday night as well as reports of trees and utility poles downed by the storm.
The rain was expected to end later Tuesday morning, but was forecast to leave cooler temperatures in its wake with the possibility of showers later in the day.
