(April 20, 2004) — SCIPIO — A small tornado touched down in upstate New York over the weekend during thunderstorms that swept the region, the National Weather Service said Monday.
Meteorologist Dave Nicosia said the twister mostly felled trees in the southwest side of Owasco Lake in the Cayuga County town of Scipio, 30 miles southwest of Syracuse. The F0 tornado, the weakest on the five-point Fujita scale, left a path of damage about a half-mile long and 75 yards wide, he said. An F0 tornado has winds of up to 70 mph
