Met issues severe snow warnings

The Met Office has issued sever snowfall warnings.
The Met weather forecasters reported that the earliest significant snowfall since 1993 was on its way. The frost, ice and warning of the first heavy snow have been issued and winter has arrived.
If the predicted snowfalls are true, the earliest significant snowfall since 1993 could soon be blanketing the streets.
The Met has put into place severe weather warnings for snow and ice. The weather is already affecting the north eastern areas of Scotland. The snow should continue as far south as Lincolnshire. Estimates predict a 2.5 cm of snow cover on the roads and 10cm on the hills.
Snow could continue to fall throughout the week over the Midlands and into Wales. The areas along the coast could face sleet and bitterly cold rain. There is also a cold north-easterly wind which will keep daytime temperatures at a low. It is predicted that temperature across much of Scotland as well as north-east England will not climb over freezing. The estimate for central London this weekend is 2C, much lower than the seasonal average at this time.
The weather forecasters have predicted that this early winter weather will persist for about a week. Eddie Carroll, the chief weather forecaster, suggested that the public should keep an eye on the forecast to make sure they have the most current information regarding potentially hazardous winter weather conditions.
The cold weather and winter storms are clearly on the way. Motorists are advised to prepare for icy conditions and monitor weather and traffic conditions.
