UK Outlook for Wednesday 29 Dec 2010 to Friday 7 Jan 2011:
It is expected to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, sleet or snow for many areas on Wednesday, the snow most likely on hills and in northern and eastern parts of Britain. Becoming generally dry on Thursday and then staying settled throughout much of the period, with a good deal of dry but rather cloudy weather expected in all areas. Widespread frost will continue to be a risk overnight and fog or freezing fog is also likely in many areas at times. Temperatures may be around normal for the first few days in the south, especially where the cloud breaks to give some sunny periods, but rather cold everywhere else, particularly where snow cover remains.
UK Outlook for Saturday 8 Jan 2011 to Saturday 22 Jan 2011:
Following a spell of near average temperatures in places, it seems probable that cold conditions will return to much of the UK, with northwestern areas likely to keep the less cold weather for longest. Therefore there is a continuing risk of widespread frosts overnight for most regions. Sunshine and precipitation amounts look set to be around average for mid-January but, given the continuing low temperatures, it is likely that many places will see further snow at times.
