Temperature of Yunnan has increased by 0.74 Celsius in the past 49 years, according to a latest weather data released by official report in Yunnan.
Meteorological records show that since in 1961, the temperature has climbed an average 0.15 Celsius every decade, covering most parts of Yunnan province. Seasonal distribution of the temperature changes show that the most obvious change occurs in winter.
Climate warming in the recent decade has caused natural disasters in Yunnan. There are some records showing that the annual rainfall has reduced in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. Drought has caused severe damages to plants in some subtropical areas of Yunnan.
More than 5,000-hectare nature reserves in Yunnan were devastated by the drought, escalating the desertification in its eastern area and causing what preservationists said "irreversible damage".
