Vanmorgen was er een update van Glacier Point van Netweather. Hij verzorgt daar de LT verwachtingen.
All global models are now projecting a strong tropical wave to develop in the western Pacific and for this to migrate towards the International Dateline, hence the strong influence of a mid Atlantic ridge in the medium term modelling, although as with tropical wave modelling, once we get to the 4-6 day timeframe, modification occurs. In this case, the ridge looks like being larger and less amplified than previously shown with a greater influence on our weather. Not great if you're looking for sustained long term rainfall.
This wave will impact surface temperatures and trade winds and bring about a further weakening in La Nina conditions, which is already being advertised by the SOI turning negative for the last few days. The signiifcance of this cannot be understated as we head into a summer with a transition away from the Nina base state towards something more positive. The net impact (particulalry if as anticiptated we get a further tropical wave in mid to lateJune) is that the prospects for next month look decidely favourable for hot and sultry conditions to develop. I wonder, could June 1976 June be beaten?
