UK Outlook for Saturday 26 Jan 2013 to Monday 4 Feb 2013:
Starting dry, cold and cloudy in many southern and eastern areas, but unsettled, windy conditions in the north and west will spread across the UK during the weekend. Some heavy rain is likely in the north and west, with this likely to become sleet and snow as it moves across central, eastern and southern parts. More showery weather will follow in the west. Cold conditions with frost, ice and some freezing fog patches will gradually be replaced by temperatures closer to average by the end of the weekend. During next week, changeable, milder weather seems likely with spells of cloudy wet weather interspersed with brighter skies and showers. However, there may still be some snow over high ground with a chance of below average temperatures again later in the period.
UK Outlook for Tuesday 5 Feb 2013 to Tuesday 19 Feb 2013:
There is greater than average uncertainty throughout this period. The most likely scenario is for conditions at the start of this period to be less cold than at the moment but also on the unsettled side. However, colder weather and below average temperatures then probably come to dominate once more towards mid-month. In terms of rain and snowfall, southern parts in particular will probably start wetter than average, but trend to nearer normal by mid-month, while the north will probably see drier than average conditions for much of the period.
