As the snow that has been falling in the Chicago area since Tuesday afternoon gradually shift south and east of the area in response to developing low pressure on the East Coast, conditions are becoming favorable to a band of intense lake-effect snow to sweep around the south end of Lake Michigan from southeast Wisconsin through northeast Illinois into northwest Indiana later tonight into Thursday.
This band could feature extreme snowfall rates in excess of 2-3 inches and hour with whiteout conditions making travel difficult if not impossible.
