Warm Start to November to Continue for Much of Europe
November 10, 2014; 12:50 PM ET

Above-normal warmth as prevailed across much of Europe to start the month of November, and that theme will continue for at least the next 10 days.

Above-normal temperatures on average have occurred from Portugal and Spain through Italy and northern parts of the Balkan Peninsula, despite a very stormy weather pattern.

North of this area, temperatures have also been running well above normal (3-6 degrees F) from France through Poland.

The exceptions to the mild weather have been across the United Kingdom and Ireland where temperatures near to slightly below normal have occurred as well as from the Baltic states into western Russia, Belarus and Ukraine where temperatures have been below normal for the first nine days of the month.

Little change in the overall weather pattern which will feature stormy weather for Ireland and the United Kingdom as well as southern Europe through Nov. 20 will keep any bitter cold blocked from the region. This cold will continue to linger in northeast Europe and western Russia during this time.
