Well an absolutely incredible turn around from 24 hours ago! This time yesterday almost every output had cold and snow for the weekend, even Friday! and possible easterly after that and if not it was going to be cold anyway!
I think this perfectly highlights the utter futility of bothering to look at the models beyond a couple of days. People say look for the trends, but what's the point when the trend changes from day to day too! Even the ensembles are all over the place now when only yesterday and even earlier they were in agreement!
You have to laugh. The funniest thing is that before the weekend we will undoubtedly get better runs and people will say its all back on again, only to have it smasshed again 12 hours later. When will we learn?
You have to question why there has been such a turn around and also question what we have to do in this country to get a proper cold spell anymore. It's the same situation every winter now and for several years recently.
Here's hoping that we at least get a cold snap for a day or two at the weekend, but the ECM has even done away with that. It's looking increasingly as if there will be little or no cold snap or spell, just a couple of cooler days. Once the models have backed away at this range they never go back it seems
