A disturbance over the central Caribbean Sea will move slowly toward the west but will continue to cause an occasional increase in cloudiness with locally a few rain and thundershowers over our region through Sunday morning. Some of these showers may still be heavy in a few spots and could cause some street flooding in the usual locations on our island. A Cautionary Statement for Severe Thunderstorms (Code Yellow) therefore continues to be in effect through this early afternoon. Furthermore, our winds will still be generally light today but are forecast to increase again gradually from the east tomorrow. The aforementioned disturbance yesterday afternoon a few heavy localized thundershowers that lead to significant rainfall in some locations on our island; especially in the neighborhood of Van Engelen and Jongbloed. Here are a few rainfall amounts measured between 8 A.M. yesterday and 8 A.M.: Van Engelen, 97.6 mm (till 6:30 A.M.), Seru Kokori, 32.2 mm, Biesheuvel, 25.3 mm, Steenrijk, 20.2 mm, Seru Mahuma, 16.7 mm, Hato Airport 14.7 mm and Santa Maria, 14.0 mm.
En dat hebben we geweten. Lekkage, overmatig water. Dynamisch weertje en vorige week vrijdag zorgde dit er zelfs voor dat de vliegvelden van de ABC-eilanden gesloten waren!
