The storm is expected to bring a storm surge of 7 to 11 feet above normal and dump 6 to 10 inches of rain along its path. Tropical storm-force winds extend as far as 260 miles (418 km/h), and hurricane-force winds stretch about 145 miles (233 km/h), meaning the coast could be battered for hours before the storm makes landfall.
