Hallo Johan,
The Barber
The barber, as the Greymouth local people name it, is a katabatic wind that
whistles down the Grey Valley with icy tentacles as sharp as a barber's
razor.
Indeed it is a cutting cold wind; as it blows from the valley it is highly
condensed as it is being forced between the two hills at either side of the
Grey River and to the sea, adjoining the town. I have heard it said that
there are only two towns in the world that experiences this weather
phenomenon.
Here are two photographs of 'The Barber' taken about 8.00 am. I have been
waiting for a long time to capture these photographs for you and finally
caught the opportunity with my new digital camera; as it is these
photographs are not an extreme example as in the springtime.

MacMillan Greymouth, New Zealand, a photo of the infamous 'Barber' at
