FLIP BACK TO WARMER COMING, BUT BACK OF SUMMER HAS BEEN BROKEN.
The torrid July for much of Europe, centered over the northwest, was the result of the ridge that took hold but that, of course, fell by the wayside for August. Summer was like a fighter that had us on the ropes as far as gearing up for the run at 2003, for while July this year was hotter than in 2003 and in some places hotter than August of 2003, August has backed off. We are going to turn around and warm up as we head into September as the ridge rebuilds through out much of Europe for a time. Though it will get warmer than normal for a time, I am not expecting a torrid September and, in fact, the overall look of fall is that of pattern closer to the average, perhaps warmer than normal over the north and cooler than normal in the south central part of the continent. However we are about to go to a warmer weather pattern overall; the trof that made sure August cooled its heals reversed to a ridge position as we head though September.
