I have no doubt they are the real deal. Apart from the color scheme, these
could have come from a tornado outbreak day in Oklahoma or Kansas. Fantastic!
They remind me very much of what John Marwitz called "severely sheared storms"
in the third part of his famous trilogy of papers in 1972. You can do a search
for them at the AMS Website and download the PDFs - they're a good read. The
timelapse movie that Stef supplied also reveals that the storm was in very
strong vertical wind shear.''
