Bijzonder interessant inderdaad

Stepleaders:
"Stepped leaders appear to only move in quantized steps of approximately 50-100 feet at a time with a 50 microsecond pause between steps, and may either branch or proceed directly to ground." (Bron: Wikipedia)
-> Dit komt wel overeen met de foto: gelijkmatige afstanden van enkele tientallen meters.

Positive streamer:
"A positive streamer is the bit of a lightning bolt that rises from the ground before the lightning strikes, often determining the path of the cloud-to-ground lightning. It is essentially composed of a column of ionized air formed by the flow of electrons down into the ground target. Eventually, the positive streamer grows vertically upward until it meets a nearby step leader, at which point the lightning strike proper can begin along this path. A positive streamer that failed to connect to a downward step-leader can be seen in the left side of : this photo" (Bron: Wikipedia)

"As the step leaders approach the earth, objects on the surface begin responding to the strong electric field. The objects reach out to the cloud by "growing" positive streamers." (Bron: How stuff works)

Het lijkt wel een combinatie van de twee te zijn, dus zeg maar een stepped positive streamer.
