Look for heavy snow in the eastern Rockies and high Plains from New Mexico and the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandles northward to eastern Montana and North Dakota right into the weekend. Several states have heavy snow warnings and/or winter storm warnings in effect. More snow is falling in Denver with considerable accumulations expected by tonight. Another round of snow is possible from late tonight through Saturday night as more energy rotates around the main storm system into the high Plains. Travel along I-70, I-25, I-76, and stretches of I-80 and I-90 will be impacted by the snow for the next day or so. Airport delays and challenges will be expected in Denver and Cheyenne due to snow. Powerful thunderstorms will impact Oklahoma City to Dallas to Houston and San Antonio today. You will need to keep checking your airline if your travel take you through any of these cities on Friday. Meanwhile, heavy rain, including some thunderstorms, will set up Friday from Nebraska to Texas and head into the Mississippi Valley by Saturday. Rainfall could exceed 3 inches in some locations. Damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes will be a major concern in a developing squall line across central and eastern Texas into extreme southwestern Louisiana. Cities that need to be prepared include San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi to Houston to Lake Charles along and east of the I-35 corridor and near I-10.
