Nu januari normaal tot zacht lijkt te worden hebben een aantal 'voorspellers' hun blik gericht op de maand februari. Zo ook op TWO waar de meesten uitgaan van een onvervalste koudeinval.

Long time, no see
Just thought all members would like to have a look at my long term view on expected nationwide weather conditions during February 2004.
It does suggest some classic winter weather for some parts of the country which certainly has been absent for much of the time in recent winters. Anyway heres a bash at February 2004. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoyed putting it together.
February 2004
MONTH HEADLINE – SEVERE WINTER WEATHER LIKELY IN NORTHERN AND EASTERN PARTS OF THE UK DURING THE FIRST FORNIGHT OF THE MONTH FOLLOWED BY MUCH MILDER CONDITIONS THEREAFTER FROM THE WEST.
FORECAST
High pressure will become established to the northeast of Scotland, early on in the month ensuring mainly dry, settled and cold conditions across many parts of the UK with plenty of sunshine by day and increasingly widespread overnight frosts.
Many parts of the country will remain dry during the first week of the month although some snow showers will develop across eastern parts of both Scotland and England as increasing winds across these parts draw cold continental air across North Sea waters.
During the second week of the month severe winter weather conditions will become well established across eastern areas of England and Scotland with frequent and heavy snow showers leading to widespread snowfall. Gusty and biting winds will also add to problems in these parts allowing the potential for some possible drifting and travel disruption. Many other parts of the UK will continue on a much dryer note with frosty nights and sunny days although both daytime and overnight temperatures will continue to fall in these parts also.
Mid month introduces a significant change in the weather with much milder conditions being introduced from the into the west from the Atlantic. The milder conditions will bring the risk of a temporary hazard of further snowfall in eastern areas as the milder airs meets the colder air. Any snowfall will be short-lived however with a rapid thaw to soon follow to these parts.
The month will end on a mild note with unsettled conditions continuing across all parts of the UK with the wettest and windiest conditions always likely towards the western side of the UK.
