On Monday bitterly cold air is expected to push southwards bringing the likelihood of heacvy snow showers to northern areas, and these will give substantial accumulations in places. In southern parts there is the chance of a spell of heavy rain, sleet or snow during the day. This may lead to blizzard conditions for a time over higher ground in the south.
Tuesday through to the end of the week looks like being very, or possibly extremely cold with an ongoing threat of snowfall across the UK. Overnight frosts are likely to be severe.
