MOTORISTS are being told to take care on the roads after the Met Office issued severe weather warnings across the south.
Weather experts at the Met Office are predicting fierce gales and heavy rain for London and the South East from 9am throughout the rest of today.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Severe south-westerly gales will develop eastwards through the English Channel with gusts of 70 mph expected along exposed coasts. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

"The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the latest Environment Agency, Floodline, and Flood Warnings in force, and to refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads."

The warnings are issued when the Met Office has 80% or greater confidence that severe weather is expected in the next few hours
