A fast-moving Alberta clipper will race into the Northeast on Thursday, producing snow across some areas.

The most susceptible areas for snow will be from Pennsylvania eastward through Long Island and Southern New England.

Accumulations will be generally in the one-to-three-inch range, though a few isolated higher amounts are possible.

Expect snow in the New York City area for Thursday morning?s commute. The snow, although light, could stick to roads, making travel tricky.

Behind this clipper, some of the coldest air of the season will continue to spread into the eastern half of the country.

It has already been exceptionally cold ? with dangerous wind chills ? in the Midwest. Some areas, possibly including Chicago, will not get above 0 for high temperatures on Thursday.

The Northeast will experience this arctic blast. By Friday, most parts of the Northeast will have low temperatures in the single digits and teens, with lows below zero from Northern New England to western Pennsylvania.

The Southeast will feel the wrath of this cold air as well. Temperatures in the 20s ? perhaps even teens ?will spread all the way to the Gulf Coast by Friday morning.
