**ROAD CONDITIONS** Scattered snow showers continue to cause a problem around the country, with slushy conditions in most parts. Temperatures are already below freezing through counties Monaghan, Cavan, Donegal and Leitrim. Expect a further drop to as low as -5°C in some areas. Extra care is advised on secondary roads, over high ground and in sheltered areas. Reduce speed significantly and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front** *ULSTER* *MONAGHAN* Extremely dangerous driving conditions throughout the county, following earlier snowfall. Gardai are advising motorists to avoid making any unnecessary journeys. The N2 via Carrickmacross is particularly slippery. *CAVAN* Gardai are advising motorists to avoid taking unnecessary journeys through Bailieborough, Virgina, Kingscourt, Cootehill and Mullagh. *DONEGAL* Snow is still falling throughout Donegal. Particular care is needed in Letterkenny and Ballybofey, where main roads are passable with care.
*LEINSTER* *WICKLOW* Remains dangerous around the county, particularly through Dunlavin, Roundwood, Brittas Bay, Lacken, Glencree and Glendalough. * Continue to take care on the Marlton Rd in Wicklow town, due to icy patches. * Avoid driving over high ground especially the Wicklow Gap, Sally Gap and Deputies Pass (the R752 between Glenealy and Rathdrum). Motorists should take an alternative route. *MEATH* Gardai continue to advise motorists that conditions are dangerous on the M4 and old N4 between Kinnegad and Kilcock. Slippery conditions around the county, due to frequent heavy snow showers. *WESTMEATH* Continue to take care on all routes around Athlone, particularly on the M6 due to very slippery and slushy road conditions. *LAOIS* Take care on the back roads around Portlaoise and Abbeyleix, as earlier snow showers have resulted in dangerous conditions.
*CARLOW* Take particular care on back roads, as snow showers have led to slippery conditions. *KILKENNY* Slushy road conditions on back roads around the county; take particular care. *OFFALY* Slushy conditions around Tullamore. Take particular care on back roads. Offaly are scheduled to play Carlow in the GAA Hurling National League at 2:30pm. This fixture has yet to be confirmed due to the weather. *CONNAUGHT* *LEITRIM* Scattered heavy snow showers continue to cause dangerous conditions around the county. Particular care is advised on the N16 Sligo/Enniskillen Rd through Manorhamilton, and also on all routes around Carrick-on-Shannon. *ROSCOMMON* Continue to take care on routes around Boyle and avoid the Curlew Mountains. *SLIGO* Very slushy roads are leading to dangerous driving conditions throughout the county. Back roads should be avoided.
*MUNSTER* *CLARE* Slushy surfaces throughout the county, leading to dangerous driving conditions. The Lisdoonvarna to Ballyvaughan Rd (N67/Cork Screw Rd) is particularly icy. *TIPPERARY* Gardai are advising extreme caution on all routes around the county, due to slushy conditions. *LIMERICK* Slippery conditions around the county following earlier snowfall; take extra care.
