London is bracing itself for some of the harshest weather of the winter with the Met Office this morning issuing a "severe weather warning". Commuters are advised to take extra care when driving with most of the roads in the capital experiencing extremely wet and slippy conditions.
The Met Office said:
"Outbreaks of heavy rain will affect the area this morning, giving rates of 15 mm in 3 hours in places. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads."
Last night the Thames river boat services were disrupted due to heavy rain and many ferry services to the continent are likely to be disrupted or delayed.
