The runway at Inverness Airport has reopened after it was closed earlier because of bad weather.
Highland Council, however, has reported almost 30 schools in its area have been shut by snow.
Heavy falls of snow have also made driving conditions difficult in some parts of the region, including Inverness.
Highland Council said it was confident it has salt in stock to deal with adverse weather.
The authority has spread 68,740 tonnes of salt on roads since just before Christmas at a cost of £1.8m.
Ardross, Avoch, Beauly, Bonar Bridge, Dornoch, Edderton, Ferintosh, Foyers, Gledfield, Hill of Fearn, Hilton of Cadboll, Kingussie, Park, Mulbuie, South Lodge, Rogart, Rosehall, Strathdearn, Tarbat, Teanassie and Tomnacross primaries have been closed.
St Duthus and St Clements special schools and Charleston, Fortrose, Dornoch, Golspie, Invergordon and Tain secondary schools were also shut.
