Extreme storm chaser Jim Edds arrived in Punta Gorda to find the town locked up and deserted, with no good options to use for shelter while filming. He ended up outside a doctor's office on HWY 41--pinned down and directly exposed to the elements, literally 6 feet from the wind-driven chaos on this video. Charley was the strongest all-daytime hurricane to hit the US since 1957 Hurricane Audrey.
