en meer dan 50 vermisten. Elf Nepalezen en drie toeristen voor zover bekend, zijn omgekomen.
Twaalf huizen, 2 hotels/logementen (Kharapani warmwaterbron), 2 bussen, 5 trucks, vee & legio bruggen zijn weggespoeld.
Dit keer was 't de Setirivier die door Pokhara stroomt, een lawine blokkeerde stroomopwaarts de rivier en het stuwmeer brak vandaag door.
Geen waarschuwingsysteen bestaat nog voor dit soort catastofe's, in dit arme ontwikkelingsland.:(

Pokhara Avalanche: 14 dead bodies found including 3 foreigners
Saturday, May 5th, 2012 | Posted by nmn At least 14 people, including three foreigners, are confirmed dead in the flood in Seti River in Pokhara and adjoining villages in Kaski, Nepal Army’s Spokesperson Ramindra Chhetri told a local television channel on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be identified.

In the flood in Seti River that was apparently triggered by an avalanche in the Annapurna mountain range, scores of people have been missing. The river water is laden with melting snow and mud, and is flowing sluggishly.
According to the information collected by our Pokhara-based regional bureau, 14 out of 16 students who were earlier reported to be missing from the Tatopani-Bhurju Khola area have come in touch with the authorities. Two others are still missing. They had gone there for a picnic.
Two helicopters of the Nepal Army and one of a private company are involved in the rescue operation at several sites in the district.
The dead bodies have been taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara for autopsy.
Fourteen persons have been reported to be killed and over 50 others have gone missing in Seti River flood triggered by avalanche in Machhapuchre mountain on Saturday morning.
The flood has also swept about half a dozens of settlement area.
The massive flood swept away five trucks, bridges, dozen houses, trees and encroached agricultural fields. Two buses carrying students for a picnic at Khaarapani have also been swept away by the flood. Two students are also missing in the flood.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has directed to take every measures in the rescue of those missing in the flood. Nepal Army personnel and Nepal Police have reached the incident site for the relief.
Meanwhile, experts on glacial lake and glacier have clarified that the Machhapuchre mountain avalanche was not caused by ‘glacier explosion’.
Speaking to eKantipur, glacial lake and glacier expert Pradeep Kumar Mul, who has been associated with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), said that it could only be a avalanche. “It is not a glacier explosion,” said Mul. “As the debris have trees and plants, it could only be a landslide of snow and mud,” he added.

De problemen van vandaag draaien niet om de aantallen van de bevolking hier op de planeet. We moeten die discussie heel duidelijk onderscheiden, we zijn daar vaak erg verward over. Niet de aantallen veroorzaken het probleem maar de manier waarop we produceren en consumeren en ons organiseren op deze planeet. Het is vooral ons consumptieniveau- de manier waarop de bevolking in het rijke deel van de wereld leeft- dat de planeet schade toebrengt.
