Ik bevind mij op glad ijs nu, maar dit is wat ik verder gevonden heb:

"The aim is to find those perturbations to a given initial state which grow most rapidly. The problem can be formalised mathematically and solutions found if certain assumptions and choices are made. The main assumption is that the perturbations grow linearly in time."

"The calculation of the singular vectors only becomes feasible if the evolution of the perturbations is linear (the rate of growth is constant over time). In the atmosphere this assumption is generally valid for small perturbations for one or two days ahead."

Laten we het erop houden dat het fundamenteel verbonden is met de wiskunde van deze numerieke methode gecombineerd met inherente eigenschappen van de atmosfeer (verstoringen zijn lineair tot max. +2 dagen waarna het niet-lineaire karakter het overneemt (chaos)). Ik heb er op dit moment van de dag en na het vele thesis-werk vandaag de fut niet meer voor om het precieze ervan uit te vissen, sorry daarvoor 🙂. Maar indien je verder wilt bijleren deze nacht raad ik je aan om wat te grasduinen op deze onderstaande site!
