extensive tornado damage started near the intersection of hwy 28 and riley road.
moved ene along hwy 28 and passed through the north side of the city of magee.
tornado appears to have continued from there ene to the smith county line. dozens of homes have been damaged or destroyed.
numerous injuries have occurred...some serious...and an unknown number of people are reported missing.
nws survey crew will be enroute to the scene this morning.
Update:
A spokesperson from Mcgee General Hospital tells News channel 12 the emergency room is full. Jackson’s University Medical Center is preparing to receive patients. AMR has sent 10 ambulances to Magee, 5 for patient transportation, 5 deployed from Jackson to assist and be on call if needed. AMR normally has 3 ambulances in Magee. They have reports of critical injuries; they don’t know how many injuries.
